Question Digital radio in cars.

Am I right in saying that every car radio in Britain has to be changed to digital when it comes in everywhere.

If not, what do we do if anything and if we have to change radios, what about all the special fronts on car radios now?

when radio does go digital, yes you will need to change.
all the modern card have moulded fronts but to fit a standard unit you would need a blanking fascia plate, hope this helps, you would have been better placing this in the ICE section, i am sure a mod will be along to move it, my money is on Dragrad

Wouldn't worry too much as they will probably move the radio analogue switch off date further ahead. They can't bring this in until enough people have bought digital radios so I'm not going to until I have to.

Even then you will be able to buy a digital to analogue convertor, bit like a digibox for a tv, and hide that somewhere in the car so it won't alter the look of the current set up.

Something like 50%... very few new cars have them, very few people retrofit them either, and consumer home DAB units aren't hot-seller either.

It's going to be a long time until the switchover happens - current geusses are 2015, but it used to be 2010...

It's not going to happen any time soon TBH. There are far more pressing matters for the government to worry about.

However, I recommend DAB in the car, especially for the extra BBC stations that you can receive.
