Its the foam that degrades and causes the sagging, that's why a spray glue doesn't work without removing all the old foam.

This solution isn't perfect but it works.
You won’t believe how elaborate the pattern will be, my dog would expect nothing less!

Dont use silicone as it will either trap or prevent the clips entering when you put it back together. Fill them with Vaseline, won't do any harm and will keep water out in the event any do crack. Also check the rubber wiring protectors where wires pass from doors into the car, I found one hanging out and another badly fitted on my car. They will allow water ingress if not fitted correctly.
