how does the door and locks actually work i have removed the doorcard the interia handle is got a hook on it which goes where ?what makes the lock go up and down i know that putting the key in the door and turning does this however mines doesnt open it or lock it so to confirm when putting the key in the door and turning it wont unlock or lock the drivers door all other doors are ok.
now the key fob it wont unlock the drivers door but it will lock it all the other doors are ok now the button on the centre console will not unlock or lock the drivers door all other door are ok. i know that pulling the inside handle is mechanically done all the other ways are electically right ? maybe something has got disconnected ?maybe a rod is fallen of maybe clip broke ? or is there something on all the doors that control them does anyone have a picture or even better a drawing of how the inside of the driver door should be everything there without the door card foam membrane basically all the electical and mechaincal parts what do you guys think |

My drivers door lock will only pop up by manual methods. Ie key or inside lever.
The key fob works all other doors apart from the drivers door which I have to activate via the key.. I,ve not bothered to fix it, just live with it.. I might have a go now though!!! |

ok the pin is clear nothing obsructing. the pin doesnt stay up even when the pin is pulled it just gets pulled back down unless i pull the hook (interia handle) so would i be right in saying its the lock? or what else could it be? any way if fixing it maybe something unclipped in the lock itself?

i was in wonder land when i thought why does turning the key in the lock still dont up the pin then i turned it harder toward the front and bingo a bit stiff but pop the pin up i got wd40 sprayed it in the key hole, in the plastic casing that you can see with the door card off, sprayed in the exteria handle, also down the side of the door where the lock is viewable hope this helps thanks again you guys for your help and i hope this helps. ps i know its been mentioned before about the lubricating but i didnt think it needed to be this over the top or maybe it was just me. any way does wd40 damage paint work

Looks like a case of something just jamming or sticking inside the mechanism then. Good to hear its sorted now.
WD-40 shouldn't damage paintwork but some of the chemicals in it may remove wax protection from the paint so if any has got in contact with the exterior surfaces and you do wax your car then I would re-wash the car and then re-apply a wax coating over the entire car (so the coating is even all over). |
