Default End Of Tether Reached!

My 2004 75 Conn Diesel had the clutch replaced about 4 months ago. The garage said it hadn't needed the flywheel replacing. Over the next few weeks it got increasingly difficult to get it into gear, until one day the gear stick was completely loose and couldn't get a gear.
The AA man said it was the gear selecter cables, so I ordered some from Rimmer Bros & got them fitted.
I expected the gear selection to be less notchy but it wasn't though it drove OK. Then I found I was struggling to get it into gear again, so back it went to the garage who could find nothing wrong with it.
So i've been driving it with the occasional hiccup, then on Friday I couldn't get it into any gear at all, much to the annoyance of other road users. I managed to drag it into 2nd eventually but am loathe to drive it now unless it happens again.
If it's any help it seems to get worse when you've been driving a while.
It's driving me insane, can anyone suggest a solution please?
