KV6 suddenly misfiring
The V6 suddenly decided to start misfiring when it was picked up for mot last night. What are the most common causes, as I am worried it could be something I can't afford Kayleigh mentioned a bad plug or coil pack could do it, which wouldn't be so bad, but what else?
Every time I go out in one of them its something lately |

If it misfires when warm and under load then plugs or coil packs could well be the culprits. Warm it up and try accelerating up a hill in a higher gear than necessary. That normally overloads a dying plug or coil enough to get it to misbehave. Otherwise it may be a fuel related issue such as dirt or the dreaded orange clip.

They took it for mot, management light has come and they'd saying lamda sensor which I only had last year. Its failed on stuff I checked at the weekend, or stuff replaced already like rear handbrake, etc etc. Bit annoyed. If the bill is a few hundred I am going to break it. Fed up of doing the same jobs and can't afford it.

I have the same problem with my KV6 Contemporary SE. I'll be fitting new coil packs and plugs as soon as I have time.

I don't know what it is, one minute they say sensor, then the next a coil pack or both...I am at my wits end with it. I don't even have the failure sheet, because they aren't bringing it back until tomorrow. The engine light is on and the emission no good as well now.

I know Dawn, and it's January! Christmas is over and it's cold and bleak. The last thing we want is problems with the car.

I could sell you my Citroën. The 'check engine' light has been on for a year ever since I renewed a faulty ignition module. The emissions are good enough to pass the MOT. If you can solve that problem you might get a reward. 2018 is going to be better Dawn. It has to be. Don't let your car get you down. Simon

I can't afford to fix it - the only option I see is sell as spares or repairs or break it. I don't want to do either, but |I can't have it sat on my drive, I need the money for a towbar for the Toyota by the looks of it.

Don’t despair yet Dawn! It might be a cheap fix. The lambda sensor will be picking up unburnt fuel through the exhaust and activating the engine management light. A poorly coil pack, spark plug or HT lead could be at fault. All cheap fixes! Any decent garage should be able to tell you which cylinder isn’t firing. T4 will help but if that’s all it is a T4 isn’t necessary. With regards other failure items, you can check them online by entering you’re number plate on the mot enquiry .gov website. Sorry can’t remember the address but a quick google will bring it up. Don’t despair. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
