I would not bother as the one I bought seems to bend.

Hi David, I've got one of Halfords professional bars Lifetime guarantee. Good quality about the only thing Halfords do right
I've also recently bought an impact driver, cordless, which I got to undo the lower mount bolts. Just realised I've got a spare extendable bar in the shed if you want it? Last edited by suzublu; 27th October 2021 at 18:24.. |

A decent quality extending wheel brace is a handy thing for a roadside wheel change (in a way that a mains powered rattle gun isn't). When having work done by mechanics / tyre fitters it's worth ensuring they don't tighten the wheel bolts with anything other than a torque wrench.

https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/clar...impact-wrench/ I would not normally bother with it to undo wheel nuts but drive shaft nuts, yes For rare use, it is ok but a bit heavy and no electric brake. Also the sockets did not fit well in the case but apparently there was a change in specification and that was the reson but machine mart made good macafee2 |

I'm assuming it's for 1/2" drive sockets?
Not 3/4" or 3/8". Now, getting personal are you a big, strong bloke or a bit of a whip? I'm the latter being 5' 6" and 11 stone. The reason I ask is that I find a longer bar far easier to get decent leverage. I've got a Sealey 750mm bar (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/353594200098?epid=10017004966&hash=item5253db5022: g:cTEAAOSw10dhdwjG). The downside is that you can find it's too long to get a decent amount of movement particularly if you're using 6 point sockets. Mine has a "soft grip" handle which, in hindsight, I wouldn't bother with because if you get something stupidly tight you can't slide a scaffold tube over it for even more leverage. Hope that helps. |

If this link works it will take you to the one I bought recently.
it's a 1" drive so you'll also need a reducer for half inch https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/142997757...53.m2749.l2649

Hi Andy. Did you notice that the part that gets the wear, the knuckle joint, is not covered by the lifetime guarantee?

Oh yes . After all, if you were the manufacturer what on earth would make you guarantee anything that might fail or break But for £25 it'll be fine for some DIY spannering. A SnapOn or similar would be lovely but totally OTT for what I'll need and what she'll be used for. Last edited by AndyN01; 27th October 2021 at 20:32.. |
