Phill,
Your ZT is one of the highest spec ZT 190's out there (well at least it was when I had it). Please offer it in the forum for sale, you will get a far better price than trade in |

Hi Rich,
If i do decide to sell her it will only be sold onto an enthusiast or on the forum.. i took her out for a drive today to get the problems looked at, going for a nice blast on the dual carriageway made me enjoy driving her again. Had new drop links put on and drives much smoother now! But garage still couldnt diagnose the whistling sound when cold so going to see if another soecialist will take a look. |

That is the perfect simile for an Alfa Romeo. I had a 33 Green Cloverleaf once, when I was young and impressionable. It seduced me but was troublesome and unrewarding. I think the affair lasted six months. I've had my 75 over ten years now. Simon

Alfa Romeo suffer the same reputations as MGR regarding reliability however when doing my homework, the 159 and GT seem to be very decent cars and have had all the usual Alfa niggles sorted.

It was a fantastic car, and I absolutely loved it...it was bought in 1998 as a stopgap while I restored my then daily driver "Douglas". Identical to this one........ I wonder why I like the look of these, and subsequently bought four, five if you include my current one Brian |

I only moved onto 75 tourers as R8 tourers were getting thin on the ground

I would tread with caution with an Alfa, they don't rust but still have electrical issues and some need specialist repairs.

I'm not so sure that's true anymore, the electrics on the newer cars are actually quite good, as for the mechanicals FPT products are found in Vauxhall's, Fords and Suzukis to name a few

I've never owned an Alfa, but I do think the 159 Sportwagon looks gorgeous.
One of my friends has been running an Alfa GT for a few months, and although it looks pretty, the driving position is poor, the clutch pretty horrible, the pedals don't seem very well laid out, and the diesel engine seems coarse. Has had quite a few issues with it. I'd want to try a few 159s before making any decisions.
