That first photo is striking !
It does look like the passenger side panel has been replaced again at some time

The silver does look gold in certain lights and angles.

Yes, the whole dash has been replaced. My car was fitted with a light oak plastic interior when I got it. I bought the whole walnut dash from ebay. It may well be a collection of bits that were put together. If I could get hold of a lighter drivers side I would be a happy man.

It might be easier to find some darker airbag and passenger vent pieces (and certainly easier to fit). The lighter real walnut dashes seem to be fewer and further between than the dark ones - both can look really nice, although the vivid grain in some of the lighter pieces is more appealing to my mind. In my experience, I've found that a lot of the early dashes (from 1999) tend to have more vivid grains - perhaps the early cars got the best veneers that were available..? I'll have a look through the spares at the weekend - If I have any usable pieces, I'll post some pics to see if they might suit. I don't have any light-coloured driver side pieces, but I might have some darker passenger side panels. If you have any joy in the meantime in getting a light-colured driver side piece, make sure that the sender packages it up real well, as it's common for the driver side pieces to crack around the vents in transit Cheers, Karl. |

Real Wood Dash
As Trikey says in post no. 12, the Silver looks Gold in some lights.
I have a complete set waiting to be fitted, and have walked around the house, looking at the passenger airbag panel. It looks Silver most of the time, but when it looks Gold, and it's rotated to double check, then no way can my eyes see it as silver, until I move elsewhere. Intriguing. Regards Mike
