Hi Dave. Can’t the 180 be uprated if it’s a good engine instead of dropping a secondhand engine in, be it 190? There’s not that much difference is there? Isn’t it just the cams. More lift and all that entails. Only guessing from years ago.

Hi Dave,

Tbh it's probably more hassle than its worth to uprate it, I have a very low mileage genuine 190 lump which I bought as a precautionary, that will have a new oil pump, belts and the like replaced, together with a new clutch and hydraulics.
A future owner will need to know the car is as.

Still .y daily work horse nearly 3yrs on with no real problems apart from general maintenance plus a photo of my project car(good wood green 180se)
