What is chilling is Putin's statement "instant response if anyone tries to interfere"

With my father being in the police during the height of the cold war he had civil defence booklets. Don't know what happened to them but they were both chilling and fascinating.

Ukrainian airspace looks worryingly quiet:

There appears to be plenty NATO stuff in the air, some of it from Mildenhall.

I feel very sorry for the Ukrainian people, but I'm not sure we should get too involved as Putin could wipe us out in a moment.

United we stand, divided we fall. If we sit back and do nothing are we just as bad as the invading force? Just look at how much of Europe fell in the second world war to Germany.
It was only by standing together that the Allies were able to free Europe.
It is easy to vote for war if you, your family and friends are not going to the front line. It is easy not to vote for war if you are not at risk from the invading force. The armed forces are there to fight and die at the governments whim and anyone joining the armed forces should know that and I do not mean that nastily.
If an invading force is not opposed, why should it not continue to invade other countries? Where do you draw the line?

In this instance, where Putin will draw his lines will be any former USSR state that has not signed up to NATO. It will be another cold war with russia being the farmhouse of animal farm, and the breakaway states (and possibly across europe) being the farmyard.

Has Boris considered sending Putin a strongly worded letter? Be about as effective as sanctions.

I see that the Baltic States are worried and who can blame them, if he's successful in his invasion of Ukraine then they'll be next especially Lithuania.

My partner has family in Ukraine - it is a disaster created by one angry and paranoid man!

I wouldn't like to call his bluff or find out for sure what he means. If and when he threatens a NATO country that is altogrether different. As Graham said earlier,I also feel desperately sorry for the Ukrainian people but supporting them on the ground would likely be catastrophic for the west.I see there have been demonstrations in Russia against the war but were quickly crushed by the police/military.
