Sealant shrinkage - resealing
This is the RH wing where it meets the body near the top right corner of the boot lid (the big thing on the left of shot is the open lid).
The sealant appears to have shrunk, hence the crack running along it. I'm wondering whether to leave it alone or re-seal it with some Captain Tolley's CCC - or even just stick some paint in there. What do we think folks? NB. The sealant on the LH wing is more or less the same. |

I had the same problem with mine, wonder if it was causing the leak in the boot, wonder as well if someone had washed the car with something too aggressive and the paint was coming off mine.
I went over mine with brushable seam sealer as was used originally, had a big tin of it in the garage - thick it was called grey stripe. I just applied it with a thin plastic spatula and smoothed it down to create the OEM finish and then painted it. |

This one perhaps? https://www.u-pol.com/uk/en-uk/produ...r#.XsaLEGeB5RA
1 litre appears to be the smallest they do. I'll probably only need 25ml. Last edited by Blink; 21st May 2020 at 14:11.. |

Have you checked the rear screen skirt trim clip holes for leaks? Last edited by Blink; 21st May 2020 at 14:19.. |

Brushable seam sealer is a bit of a dog to work with (and you really need to use the correct primer before application)
Tiger Seal, although not exactly a pet, is quite a bit easier to manipulate and it seems to get good reviews as a seam sealer, from what I've seen on the web. It is black, though, so you'll need to tape up around it once cured to get a few coats of body colour over it. In that area, I'd say it should look fine (just be careful to keep away from the outer face of the wing). Cheers, Karl. Last edited by The Mighty Quinn; 21st May 2020 at 14:47.. |

Kelvin - re your post 2: on second thoughts, the inside of the RH wing does get wet up there* in heavy rain, so I'll give it another go with the hose pipe and see if I missed anything the first time.
* You can just about reach it if you dislocate your arm. |
