How has spam gotten hold of details
Do motor insurance companies, sell, provide access to or give away information about their customers and their accidents?
Just received a spam email to my wifes email account with her name and date of accident. Very convincing e-mail but just a couple of things rang alarm bells. The email seems to contain details of a number of other companies, one companies name, another companies phone number etc. How did they find out about her incident? macafee2 |

Data is worth more than gold, yes it gets sold on, stolen or swapped between companies.

Motor insurance database. They will hold the information, whether it came from.there or not, I do not know. You could send a subject data request to both them and the company who contacted you to find out more and maybe find out how they got your info. It is not something I have done personally but they are legally obliged to provide with all the info relating do.you within a certain time frame (28 days rings a bell), and cannot charge more than 10 pounds for it. Search google for subject access request Sent from my SM-A600FN using Tapatalk
