With the additional revenue the Chancellor is (hopefully) using some of it pay off the debt. He could of course reduce the taxes on it but see the debt increase.
He's dammed if he does and dammed if he doesn't. I'm sure his potential replacements (as well as his critics) have all the answers. |

I’ve thought for some years that the long suffering population are nothing other than a source of income for business.
All that matters is that the public purse grows to meet with the expenditure required for ensuring our rulers continue to live in the style to which they are accustomed. In other words, we pay and they play. The very recent massive jump in the cost of everything is merely a reset until the next one, with the current blame being stitched onto Covid. Can’t wait for the next con job. Not that I’m a cynic of course.
