Default Diesel debate

Hi all,
read today in a motoring newspaper about the VW diesel scandal and the ramifications. To meet future EU regs and reliability/durability the major manufactures are going back to large diesel engines Min 2lt. The paper mentioned the Rover L series engine and was highly complimentary about it.

My daily runner is a diesel.....13 litre,400 BHP Euro 6 Mercedes Benz(Sorry!!)
Not sure about the L series..
