Default Mk4 dvd drive compatibility

Hi all, I know there is probably a thread on this already but, is a bmw mk4 dvd sat nav compatible with the original highline 4:3 screen and video module?

Cheers,

Graham

Yes, the Mk4 DVD unit is a straight swap with the Mk3 CD version and work with the original screen. I fitted one to mine, along with a BM24 tuner.

If you want a wide screen monitor, then you do also require the 16:9 video module.

Thanks for that. Not desperate for the widescreen, just want up to date maps for the sat nav. Plus it means I don’t have to fork out loads of cash for the full kit.

Should you decide to go for a 16:9 bordmonitor (it is actually a much better aspect) you also need a BMW TV module as the Rover version will not drive the wider picture. If you later aspire to TV you'll need a digital (labelled 'hybrid') BMW TV module (a bit more difficult to source and an even greater expense, currently something north of £150-200) otherwise an analog version will do (plenty on e-bay starting at around £15)
