Default Rear seat problem tourer

Hi Guys?

Couple of things I need help with.

Needed to remove the rear seat on my tourer. Got to the stage of removing squab and trying to remove seatbelt anchor point to get squab out of the car.

But problem with the bottom Torx bit that secures the seatbelt anchor.

The seatbelt securing bolt, the bottom one, is seized solid and bust 2x Torx bits. Tried WD40 from the top but can't get to the rear of bolt from under the car as it seems to be behind the fuel tank.

But main issue is with the backrest and i managed release that, though i can't get it out of the car due to the seat belt prob. Unless i can split the back rest at the 60/40 split. My workshop manual doesn't tell me how.

But the prob with the backrest is the small section is coming apart at the bottom. This is visible from inside the car when seats are in as normal so i want to get it sorted.

As you can see from the pic the front and rear seat facing are secured together by what appears to be a zip type fastener, but with no zip ends. So once it parts now obvs way to put it back together.

So my Q is, is there a correct way of putting it back together or do i just put lots of small cable ties every couple of cm's along the zip fastener and pull the sides together.

I think it work work sort of ok'ish but would rather do it correctly without have to pop along to Aldridge Trimming (Classic Car Trimmers in Mids) and cough up way too much cash.

The other Q is how to get that lower seatbelt anchor Torx out as it so solid the last two Torx bits have snapped. So any ideas how to get it out given i can't seem to get to the rear of it?

I could weld a nut on it but would rather not go welding with my SE seats still in place.

Cheers

Bean

Hi keith.
Most likely because you have not paid into the subs, which is voluntary only, but it allows you to do more on the forum.

Wondered if that might be the case but its not mentioned anywhere in the posting guide i was reading.

Trouble is so many clubs website etc gets expensive paying at all of them but here is reasonable so just paid subs.

Wonder if it will work this quick?

Hi Keith.
If you can find and old sip up jumper or the like wife's dress etc then use that to zip it back up, also drop trebor a PM he knows the right size zip to purchase that will do the job.

First your profile says you have a TF. I will assume either your seats are from a ZT, or your tourer is a ZT. Why, because the 75 tourer has no zip along the bottom that I have worked on. they have hook & slide over plastic strips. I have not stripped one down for getting on for a decade, but I did at least a dozen, all 75's, and none had a zipper.

From your pic I see you have removed the third retaining torx bolt. I assume you know how to release the backrest end retaining collars to remove the backrest.

Have you read my guide.
https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...ht=tourer+seat

The zip is a double open ended type. Insert the two ends of the zip into the zipper. Pull the zipper along and straight out, (From the inside) some leave the zipper on near the end.

The zipper used at the factory is attached to a long rod, because the zip has to be zipped up from inside (like being in a sleeping bag, and zipping it up, and the zipper is near your feet, wishing the zipper had a long piece of atring to grab and pull the zipper up). Because you cannot climb inside the seat to zip it up, the long rod is used to pull the zipper along from the inside. What I do is attach a thin wire to to zipper puller to pull the zipper along the zip.

Any zipper cannot be used, you can be lucky and get one the correct type and size. The type of zipper used on the ZT backrest (or one with a zip) is upholstery nylon loop. You need to measure the width of one of the loops to get the correct slider size. I am quite certain the size is N3, You can just buy a zip, and remove the zipper from it.

Will PM you my email address, saves image hosting.
