Absolutely.I like the freshness of the front end and it happily sits alongside current models for moderness.I have never experienced any problems with build quality but it's a shame it became a victim of project drive.Had the MK 2 been released first that wouldn't have been an issue.

I think the purist’s will go for the MK1. When I first saw the MK2, I thought allo, allo, allo, they have gone and done a restyle and ruined it. It has grown on me since but to me, the MK1 is the more aesthetic on the eye. It is a shame that at the same time of the re-style, they cheapened the quality inside the car.
But eh, everyone to their own.

I did buy a facelift first, but only because I wanted a diesel Tourer auto, and they were few and far between. Now own a mixture or them. I generally feel that the first edition of any model is the best - all facelifts seem to detract from the purity.

I agree. And I've been driving one for over 10 years If there's anybody out there who prefers the Shapeshifter, and has a nice Mk 1 front end in Pearl Black that they feel like swapping, get in touch...

I'd never want to insult anyone's pride and joy but I'd also probably never go for a facelift 75. I thought I was sort of alone in thinking this before now!

For the 75, I'd go mk1 out of preference, unless someone dangled a mint V8 under my nose for peanuts. Just looks more classy to me and reminds me of my Dad's P4 with the grille.
As the proud owner of a mk2 ZT, I do think the facelift treatment works better. Slightly sleeker and less bulky perhaps. Don't get me wrong, would jump at the chance of a mk1 ZT (if the cashflow and drive space permitted). On the whole facelift front for the 25/45/75 & ZR/ZS/ZT, I personally think the facelift worked best for the ZS and ZT, though I was never over keen on the boot/tailgate treatment of the ZS - a bit too 90s Max Power for me with the reg plate in the bumper. Didn't stop me owning one!

Like a lot of beautiful women who try to update their looks with a facelift, it fails to impress.
Rover 75 Mk I was born beautiful, it's looks were perfect as it was. But, everyone to their own. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Kev. |

I much prefer the original. To my eyes the facelift design works for the ZT, but it completely butchered the appeal of a 75.

I have four ZTs - two Mk1 and two Mk2.
Afraid I prefer the look over either of the iterations of the 75. Wife had a Mk2 1.8ti Contemporary and side by side the ZT is in my opinion for what it is worth, better looking. |

MK1 ZT or 75 anyday - the twin hooded lights so distinctive as opposed to the slash lights of the MK2..
