75 vs X-Type

There has been a lot of discussion across the various forums comparing the 75 and X-type, but I think that they all miss the point. Surely the Rover is for gentlemen and the Jaguar for dodgy car salesmen? Or am I betraying my age and prejudices here?

I don't think so

Jags seem to be the obvious choice if your succesful, whereas the 75 is a bit more understated.

Bernard - are you saying that the Rover is for the Gentleman, the Jaguar for the guy that sells a dodgy Rover.............

Worrying thing is by the time I sell the cdt it will probably be the alternative.

I quite fancy one next. I just wish they had a smaller petrol engine.

Frankly I can only see the S-Type as being comparable to the 75. The Xtype is a poor second.

Before I got the ZT-T I took an x-type on an extended test drive.

I had a 2.0d estate for a day and put around 150 miles on it and wasn't impressed. Firstly the level of background noise was such that I couldn't use voice dialing on my mobile phone at anything above 50mph and at the end of the day the my hands were buzzing with the vibration trough the steering wheel.

I actually quite fancied this car but I gave it back with an overwhelming feeling that it was actually a fairly poor car pretending to be something better.

Back in 2001, I was looking for a car that I could rely on to get me across the Peak District on a weekly basis, in all weathers. I ended up with an X-Type, the 2.5 V6 4WD model. If I hadn't needed (or wanted) all-wheel drive, I would have gone for the 75; In all other ways, I much preferred it. Now I'm living in snow-free (mostly!) Devon, I'm glad to be able to rectify the situation with my current ZT :-)
