Wraymond has got it exactly. Some companies will offer one years bonus to new customers, but remember after the first year you will still only have that one year NBC. You may also enjoy a NBC based on the time you may have been a named driver on someone else's policy, but not all insurers will treat this the same. Perhaps that will help explain why the percentage you currently enjoy is unimportant. You will still be required to declare how long you have been insured without claim.

imo insurance companies just thing of a number I have just had a row with Admiral after the fire they say it isnt worked on a percentage and cant give me an idea how much my premium will increase .. which imo is crazy then they added over 50% to my premium for "changing cars" after the fire because it was a new car to me ..even though it was a zt again and the CDTI 130 rather than the 180 I argued it and won in the end ... just crazy I wouldnt have minded so much If I had chosent to change the car or say gone to a BMW or a V8

as I said they just make up numbers

I really can't understand why some companies quote as a percentage and not years, surely the industry should have a standard so when changing providers everyone is clear of the entitlement.
Yes but if they all worked from the same book, they would not be able to charge you anything they fiddled, sorry like.
