Soon I'll find repose

And then I'll hold you in my dreams

Yesterday it was about 25C, just right. We had a quiet Christmas Day, just Jessica and myself. Everyone else in the family have gone on safari for Christmas and New Year, still not strong enough after the major op 12 weeks ago, but we are grateful I made it to Christmas and can plan for the future, we count our blessings.

Jessica made Christmas cake for the staff here, the herdsmen, the gardeners, the maids and the askari's - night guards their wives and children.

With my appetite recently returning, Christmas lunch was cottage pie and mixed veg. We managed to escape killing a goose for the Christmas table.

Do keep us posted about your nan.
Morning Phil & Jessica.

Mum got a call from the hospital this morning to say that Nan will be having an operation at some point today as she has Broken her Hip unfortunately.
I have told Mum to keep me posted and happy to take her to Colchester Hospital if Nan is allowed visitors.
Nan is 98 years old so obviously there are risks with surgery at that age. She is also suffering Vascular Dementia which is why she is now in a care home.

I have not been able to see my Nan for two plus years due to the Covid rules that were put in place. My Mum and Her Brother were the nominated Family members who were allowed access. That rule was relaxed recently so I'm hoping Nan does make a recovery and I do get to see her whilst she still recognises her family and the Dementia doesn't completely take over.

Sorry you missed out on the Safari this time Phil but glad you had a great Christmas and can plan for going on Safari again soon

Those cakes Jessica made sound delicious

I am sorry Ian to hear you are having a bad time going through this.

With influenza, Strep A and a resurgence of COVID there are a lot of bugs going round. A month ago I had the sore throat, was running a temperature and had the cough and sniffles. I was put on Amoxicillin 500mg twice a day for 10 days and eventually it cleared up. Was it Strep A, I don’t know.

Jessica had the same and the same treatment, she is much better but is still coughing.

Last weekend my younger brother came down with it and spent the weekend in hospital being scanned and having lots of blood tests because he is on chemotherapy and is immuno-compromised. He was treated in hospital with Amoxicillin 500mg twice daily and then at home, he is much better.

Please be careful and if you get a temperature spike get medical attention.

Sorry to hear that Ian,

Can you get access to meds to help your symptoms on Boxing Day?

Looks as good as the Toby Clacton. Jeff, I think you could easily organise a breakfast meet at your house. I know you have plenty of room on the green and there will be lots of grub to get through

Hi Jeff, I've been trying to ring Christies Salford to let them know of my situation but no reply there or my doctors., I'm supposed to let Christies know of any illness that will effect my immune system prior to the radio therapy sessions straightaway. I'll try them tomorrow morning & hope they can sort some antibiotics out over the phone for me. I'm not fit enough to go to Bolton A+E & sit there for 6-7 hours, I can see my January appointments at Christies getting pushed back again.

Morning all, now the Christmas lurgy has arrived, all of us are feeling rubbish, sore throats, cough etc.

Covid tests done and all clear thankfully.

Might have to open a single malt.

Not good Ian.

Nothing I can suggest really apart from keep trying to get through on the phone.
Hope you get an answer asap Ian.
