Like the raised lettering - also like the fact that the blue stripe goes all the way from top to bottom - something some of the others don't seem to do any more. Such a pity that my plates are still in very good condition albeit with slightly faded lettering so can't really justify it.

Demonplates also do raised, standard black lettering.

BTW, i seem to have generated them a little business. I am not affiliated in any way

That's correct Tom. It is called 'Domed Black'. I have been fighting their corner since I joined this site and ever since because the numerous design applications online and their quality of plate.

I only called them last Tuesday to order a specific plate not available through the online sight. A 6.5" x 6.5" road legal motorcycle plate with the BS mark on with a black boarder with 3D text for a side plate holder for the Harley

As I (and others, including lawwyers) understand it, what matters to the law is what's in the area of a standard plate, the dimensions of which are specified. As the "smiley" plate is larger and the logos are outside the specified area , there's absolutely no problem. You can have what you like outside the dimensions of a standard plate. So long as it's not obscene or libelous, of course.

Don't know if this helps, but I believe this is an original plate to use as reference (someone will let you know if I'm wrong)

Interestingly, the postcode comes up as no longer in use according to Mr Google... sorry the pic's are a bit poor - it's raining here so I used my phone instead of camera.

Well finally got my new plate. In relation to the question I asked in the original post, I used the plate designer on the hardridden ebay site and chose '2mm' for the black outline (line thickness) and '12mm' for the logo. In reality, this made the Rover logo just about 11mm tall. I think it has given a nice proportion.
