I've not worked on the petrol models but could the filter housing be temporarily held together with a large cable tie or something similar?

If you happen to have a screwdriver, you could use a self tapper to secure the fuel filter housing. (pull one from the dash somewhere?)

To get at it... Pull the rear bench out (Lift the front end of it up, then push back sharply to release it from the hooks)

The filter housing is securesd by a large metal ring into the top of the tank (Passenger side of the car).

This unscrews in the normal direction (Some persuasion might be required)

Then you will be able to lift out the filter housing.

Could be 'Bodgeable' if you have the right tools available.

Edit: as Bubs said, big enough cable tie might see you home.

Looks like it's a crank sensor according to the obd reader

I've had crank sensors go on my coupe. Usually if you let it cool down it starts again but will judder when driving and cut out. You may be able to still get home with it.

If it is Fuel Filter Syndrome, here's what to do...

Out with the back seat cushion

Off with the black inspection cover and vola Fuel Filter assembly part number WGS100072

Out with the fuel filter (next two pics courtesy of Tatts )

[/

Then one fabled orange clip duely purchased...

and on with said mod (this picture courtesy of Lates )

If you don't have the orange clip, no matter, just screw the filter back up for now to get you home. The orange clip just stops it from happening again next time

Strange, my fuel filter top is black and not white criss cross plastic. I'm pretty sure it's the crank sensor as it came up on the obd reader as soon as I turned the key to start the car. I've got one at home ready to go on so I'll update when it's fixed.
For now, I have to wait another hour for a recovery truck, been waiting 6 hours so far

home after a 9 1/2 hour mess about with the AA. They don't like lowered cars.

Turns out it was the crank sensor, it had split in the middle strangely!
It took out the injector fuse and its own fuse, and tripped the ecu into some strange limp mode that wouldn't let it start, it needed the battery unhooking to reset. fired right up after much faffing!
