Ended up using a grinder with a thin stainless / steel disc to cut a notch which turned into removing most of the material around roughly 30 degrees of the race. A heavy hammer and a chisel then loosened it and it came off pretty cleanly.
Gave the spindle a clean up with fine emery cloth and the new hub went on enough to use the nut to take it home. Better day weather wise and got the rear brakes sorted too which was a bonus. After a run out to road test them all seems tickety boo. Hoping after they bed in that the slight squeal as the car comes to a stop goes. Handbrake very good on three but will probably readjust within the month. Last edited by bigblue75; 17th April 2017 at 17:14.. Reason: clarity |
