Default 75 rear lights

Hello, I need some help please with my facelift 2004 tourer. The brake lights are stuck on.

The first reaction was a faulty pedal switch and this was replaced with no fix. Car was then put on a general diagnostic machine at the local garage and a fault was detected apparently within the main light switch. A new one of the type required is not available now, so a used one was fitted. The fault code has disappeared but the lights remain on.

Yesterday, the car was put onto a T4 diagnostic system and it would appear that a VIN mismatch between the donor switch and the car is preventing any progress in the matter. Please, if anybody has any good ideas of what to do or where to go for a fix then I would be most grateful. Thank you. Kind regards.

Did the T4 operator pair the LSM and IPK mileage together, I would have thought they would have done this

Hello, this is Peter.

Sorry, but I have no idea. You are dealing with a complete idiot as far as these matters are concerned. Can you please try and explain in simple terms what has to be done and then I can ask the questions. Thank you. Kind regards.

AsI recall, it needs some 'special' T4 treatment to couple a second hand/used LSM with the existing ECU. As said, basically equating the mileage records across the new system, but your average T4 operator may not know how to do it. I believe the forum search term 'virginise' may shed light.

Default Was the brake switch bought from Rimmers?

I think a look at the thread

As you are in cambs then your nearest expert in these matters (that I know of) is Phil-T4, send him a PM (private message). If no response then Marinabrian is your next PM.

Thanks to all the people who have taken the trouble to respond. I had no idea the situation was so complex.

I have this morning spoken to Phil T4 at Milton Keynes. On his suggestion I have ordered a replacement brake light switch from Rimmers, and he is going to look at the car next Thursday. Hopefully this will fix the problem. Thank you all once again. Kind regards.
