Did you also swap over the transponder the little black block in the key fob ?

Thanks for that, these are the kind of things where one of Arctics how tos would be invaluable...

Working on all buttons, locks and ignition now.

What a difference. the tangs inside held the circuit board as they should. the case clipped together firmly and both the buttons work a treat because the plungers have solid centres.

These are the good ones.

Thank you for the recommendation of these replacement fobs excellent quality I used the back of my original Valeo backing as did not want to disturb the chip.
