Default gunson service/oil reset tool

hi all

just thought I would pass this on.

used a gunson service reset tool a few days ago.
just a warning to all.
I had did a oil and service reset on my 75 mk1 2.5 v6.
it has taken the sevice miles to 120 thousand on the box it should take it to 15 thousand miles .
and the oil miles has gone off the dash. all thats left on the ipk is mls.
have take the battery off and for two days and its done nothing .
so just be carefull

I have never heard of that happening before!

Hopefully T4 can reinstate it for you.

I have one and it resets diddly squat. Sounds like a case of two extremes

its totally gone.
used a bit of software from old Phil-T4 from years ago to reset.
also take the battery off. even used toaf to see if there was a way .
none have got it back.
I guess it could be a problem on the car . but all was good till I used the reset tool.

thanks
steve

Is this what you used Steve? If so, I'd say you need to contact Gunson and tell them what's happened.

I used a gunsons reset on both my zt as well as a few local members and never had an issue with it.
Yours maybe faulty which has done something to the ipk.

You need to be so careful of some of these generic code reader reset tools, a friend used one and the car refused to start afterwards. It had to be tailored to he main dealer to have the ECU reset.

Yes that's the one .
I will be getting in contact with them . My concern is that someone else may use one and do more damage.

To be honest that's why I brought one as I had seen that other rover 75 owners had used one and all was well.
