Reversing sensor
Hi all
Any ideas why on cold start up the reversing sensors will work fine. But after a 20 minute drive they would stop working. This seems to happen every time I use the car. From cold all is well but after a few minutes they stop. All the sensors are clicking . But also have a odd fault with the vis motors. Some days I get a fault with the balance motor. If I clear the fault all is ok for a couple of days the it comes back. Yesterday came up with a balance and power vis fault. Both are good motors. Thanks all. |

If all the sensors are working i would look at the connector that links the parking ECU to the sensor loom - i had intermittent failure of the sensor - would work then stop - usually related to going over a a speed hump/pothole. Anyway the connector was corroded - once the corroded connections were sorted all fine.

I had exactly the same fault..replaced the sensors and all OK now. The sensors are powered up with 12 volts all the time you are driving and the output from them taken when you select reverse. So one of them was breaking down after being on for a while. I replaced them all as they were 17 years old!

Easy thing is to try another reverse switch, only takes 20 mins, could be thermal expansion inside the plunger. If you decide to, do not buy Britpart, their reversing switches are faecal matter. People may have bought one and it be ok, I have changed a few, not just on 75/ZT, and had 3 duds.

Ever wished you had not started something.
Didnt get chance this week to take a look but it's worth a look at.
It's now regular. First reversing they work fine but you try again after a few minutes and they go into fault. Leave for a few hours and the sensors work fine. The zt now has three new faults both the power and balance vis motors are apparently stuck open both vis motors are good ones. And also the passenger side headlight has stopped doing its self check and no adjustment on the switch. But on the plus side external air temp works now. |
