I get the point, but since it was being stripped, primed and re-coated, why not flash 4 extra welds on it to make sure.
Like I said, when you can break with welds with your FINGERS, you know its **** construction and requires fixing. That is all there is to it. |

aside from the time, and going by how easily the old one folded with minimal pressure, the straps are thin, adding weld surely could only add a weak point into the thin metal? Potentially creating a weakened area where the weight does actually matter! The central point of the strap that takes the weight which in my mind is the area that needs to be the strongest? Although it could be argued the bends at where the bolts pass through would be the most structurally important section.

Fuel tank strap welding............
It's much more important to have maximum strength when your fuel tank contains more than just fuel when you are doing your regular continental drug runs in your incognito MG
Can't understand why the man is still bothering with any MGR offering, I would have though he'd have bought his Maybach Exelero by now I mean it even looks a bit like a facelift 75 at the front if you squint a bit |

Nope, the rubber hose that connects the tank to the filler tube will stop the tank from dropping to the floor, but its the tank straps hold the tank in place.
