Default morris minor traveller in Shetland

Not long back from Shetland and came across this.
The owner had brought the Car from the UK then on to Switzerland .
Restored to new and changed to left drive.
Engine was original and most of the parts was refurbished where possible.
He had travelled from Switzerland to the HOOK of HOLLAND .
Then over on the ferry to Newcastle .
From Newcastle to Aberdeen.
Then ferry to Shetland.
then was going to do the same back home.
ask had any problems with the drive answer was none at all.
hats off to him.

Simple and straightforward to maintain. Old cars do the job - do we really need all the gizmos the manufacturers give us today? I say a resounding NO.

I 100% agree with you. Far too much to go wrong these days. In the seventies and eighties, I used to drive down to southern Europe with no worries at all but always have RAC recovery these days for my local travel! (Not that I have ever needed to use it!)
We've had three Moggy 1000s over the years. Our Traveller was Old English White with red and grey interior! Very jazzy in its day!

My dad has one. Not quite so shiny but always starts first touch of the key.

You can just see it poking it's nose out at the end of the row

Thumbs up

My wife has a 1960 Traveller, it's not original as it has a Sierra 5 speed gearbox along with MK1 Escort rear axle, servo and discs brakes up front, but still has a 1098 engine, it can always be relied on to start!

I have a 1970 Traveller, only one previous owner, I've upgraded to a 1275 engine and discs up front but the rest is standard spec. It's travelled extensively in Europe, with hgf failure once in France which was changed by the roadside in a couple of hours, it now enjoys semi retirement along with my wife's one, but we're not frightened to use them. They're great little cars

My mum had one back in the day in green.
My uncle had a soft top. So did the car.
Have got photos of me standing on the front seat holding on to the windscreen.
Think we was doing the grand speed of 20mph .
My nan went ballistic at him . I loved it.

A distant cousin of mine bought a brand new 1971 Traveller in trafalgar blue. He ran it for 20 years, and kept it in perfect original condition. Then it was written off in an accident (not his fault), and his wife said now they could get a modern proper car. Guess what, he hunted and found an identical restored one and ran that until he died in 2005. If my Triumph 2000 was not so thirsty I would do the same.
