The world has gone PC mad. There are more and more "warnings" appearing on the programme guide. What I'd appreciate would be a warning "the following programme is mind numbing rubbish and should only be watched if you have the IQ of a brick".

To be fair, if I had been other than what I am, I just might have objected to some of the characterisations seen in 60's/70's TV. On the other hand a thick skin, irrespective of hue, has always been necessary in the interests of 'self-expression'.

Isn’t it enough that by and large we all ‘grow up’, reaching maturity and tolerance as we gain experience? So, the zealous activists are all angry children stamping their naked feet on broken glass.

I remember as a child reading stories such as Uncle Tom’s Cabin, which today would be seen as sacrilege and the work of the devil. Whereas, in fact, it was intended when written in 1854 as a comment on anti-slavery work and subsequently received world-wide acclaim which resulted in the abolition. Thanks to my blessed Grandmother who persevered when I was 6.

An early lesson that in fact has been forgotten is to read between the lines and that nothing on Earth is new.

They'd have a field day with Captain Pugwash, though on the other hand, they do show lurid disgusting shows that I won't mention all about people who don't know which direction to go in.

I will be interested to see the reaction to "The Knee" once crowds are allowed back in stadiums.

I read that some FC's insisted on the players doing it. Ever conscious of gate receipts I presume. The hypocrisy is possibly worse than the perceived slight.
