:
If you fitted new discs without pads the old pads will be shaped and scoured to the old discs and potentially not braking on all the disc

Handbrake works on the on the drum so won't be affected by low foot brake efficiency

Brake fluid is hygroscopic It will change colour as it absorbs moisture so the first bleed will give indication of condition

Chances are replacing the pads and changing the fluid will sort your problems

Usually as in above post I usually bleed a bit of fluid off annually as I service the brakes before the MOT . This also ensures my Bleed nipples don't seize

Maybe ask to see the MOT depot's brake tester calibration certificate?

If the brake tester was faulty, the same imbalance would have shown up on the front wheels. 😉

Good idea.---It did take it back in after I took it apart completely.---The same figures came up on the screen.--

I have ordered new pads, bought a bleed kit and going, in the next couple of days, to completely change all the brake fluid for new.

I told a friend and he said he knew a brake tester very well who would test just the left rear brake for free.-So after pads and fluid change I'll give that a go.

Not a good idea at all, in fact rather a silly one, just testing one wheel will not tell the important thing which is, if the brakes on the axle are balanced or not !

For such a safety critical system brakes, is the cost of a full brake test again, yes all four wheels so expensive ?

On another tack, when doing any work on one side of an axle, I've always repeated the same on the other side, why not ensure that both brakes are equal in cleanliness, freedom, wear etc, takes a bit more time I admit, but I never cut corners on anything especially such as brakes, suspension, steering and tires, I'm not too bothered if it won't start and move...........but!

From my post you'll see exactly what I intend to do. And by the way they will be testing both rear brakes at the same time. That's how a tester works.--Lol.
So in fact they will be comparable results. Bit obvious really.

Also why pay for something I've been offered for free??

Bit like giving advice on this great forum that I've been doing for 12 years now.---

Cleanliness is next to Godliness.--A thing I've learnt in over 65 years of tinkering with cars and other mechanical objects trying to overcome their wicked ways.---

Teaching Grannie to suck eggs comes to mind.-----Tactics not needed, just a specific answer to this particular problem.--Thanks all the same.
