Well thank you all for your comments, some more constructive than others.
I’ve noticed that “make an offer” option is available, so I may well do that and see where I get.

I got mine from the dvla, to me it resembles a cut down version of my surname.
I have seen it advised that if you do find a plate available from other sellers to make sure it isn’t available from the dvla first as apparently some will list plates that they don’t actually have and can be got much cheaper direct from dvla (which is what they pay when the purchase is made by an individual and then sell on to that person with their markup on it)

Reg transfers is another good one for private plates.

Have usually found what I wanted (or nearly) on DVLA site, but have also used Elite Registrations in Devizes - very helpful, and reasonably priced.

I got my V80 MGO for the 260 on the Dvla site.. was actually pretty cheap considering some of their prices.

Also Got a Private plate for Liz as a Xmas prezzy for her Micra .

That left the original private plate E2 S** plate off the car, i popped it on reg transfers. who proceeded to bombard me with offered of 3-400 quids ..

Then they also foolishly sent me a few emails offering it to me for sale at £1500 .

Seems its found its way onto lots of other reg sites from £1300 upwards

No problem letting them have 30% ish for a few computer key presses but not that amount .. so just be carefull with these sites .

Tell them you would consider it at 1300, then wait for their email saying they have a buyer offering 300, then offer it to them for 2000, and see if they bid you down to maybe a grand for it. If they do, take the grand and simply 'change your mind' in regards to buying lol.

I suppose it has limited appeal because it could only be used on a late 2005 registered mg/rover.

My first dabble in those murky waters was in the year 1984. I know, I know, a notable year for writing a book.

I saw my three initials and, at the time, a relevant number on a plate for sale and grabbed it for £250. Later used it on my last of 4 P6’s. Since then it’s been used on a BMW Series 5, Rolls Royce Silver Shadow 2, a Jaguar XJ40, and 2 75’s including my present one. The cost was modest and I’ve no idea what it might be worth now. I’ve told Celia that if I go before her she must bury the plates with me. Oh, and not incinerated. Oh, and sell the number as my Life Assurance.

Did not like the reg on my MGTF so I looked at the DVLA site and got a good one for £250 all Inc of vat and transfer fee.
Changed BN53 LVF to T333 MGR.
No plans for changing any other vehicles that we have.
