Just hope they all come home.

And those cuts reversed.
another potential reason for (additional?) moving NATO (inc British) troops to estonia, and other countries surrounding Ukraine, would be to maintain a corridor for weapons to be shipped into and for Ukraine.

I read today the Swift sanction has been invoked. So, a financial response is a start. Money talks, eh.

If the Russian economy collapsed I wonder what that will do too Puttin and all his cronies. If there Billions of Rubels are not worth the paper the paper they are written on he will struggle to maintain his strangle hold on it all. Yes I am sure they have money stashed around the world but with travel bans and all transactions being looked at it will be a problem for them.

Reality check, Putin is not going to stop at the Ukraine and sanctions are not going to be any more effective than they were against Iraq. Best plan is to join the Communist Party of Great Britain, hopefully that may put one at the front of the line for the weekly ration. Chris.S.

If only it were so simple. No matter how many Roubles are stashed away all over the world, much of it in China or a dependency thereof, Russia has the worlds greatest stash of the only currency that really matters. Gold.

Held permanently in Moscow (somewhere) it amounts to an alleged 2,300 tons of the stuff. Currently valued in the region of £104 billion, it is tradeable on virtually every market in the world without rude questions being asked. Russia even started to sell all their American dollars to reduce their dependence on that trade.

World Gold Council says: 'Gold is an asset the Russians physically own and hold in Russia and can do what they like with it. It has no credit risk and it is an internationally recognised asset'. It is guaranteed to increase in value no matter what happens to raw currency.

It might be reasonable to expect someone, who knows whom, to start to buy (or leverage) another country's debt burden. Result? Serious destabilisation.

And we thought Covid was bad . At this rate we wont have a world left if Putin pushes the button.

He must be mad, the world has had 75 Years of relative peace with growing economies and prosperity and he could destroy all of that for ever. Hopefully one of his cronies will point out that the world after Nuclear Armagedon will not be worth living in.

Just watching RT before it gets shutdown.

Worrying, very worrying.
