Default HELP PLEASE need my engine swapped

I've had my 3rd Rover 75, a 1999 club cdti for nearly 5 years. Really fell in love with this one, so even when the clutch went last year I had a full system fitted. (have to get garage to do it as at an arthritic 73 with no premises can't do that stuff myself).
So then, I decided to have the front suspension renewed, then new fuel pump, new front tyres, and the bit of welding needed for its November MoT.
So last year it cost this OAP just over a grand, but as the engine was a baby at 183k miles, being the bulletproof BMW diesel I reckoned it well worth it to keep the old girl on the road.
This January she repaid my love by deciding that the oil in the sump wanted to make love with all the coolant water, so the head obliged!!
After head scratching and begging the banker (the missus) I bought a used engine from a diismantler and arranged the garage I've used for 24 years to do it.
The engine is still there, the car is still in my car space as garage dont want to do the job now. and can't get any other so-called mechanics to do the job.

SO - - - Has aybody, preferably Suffolk area, got either a reliable mechanical contact, or even do the job themself, at a fair price.?

Thanks in advance.

You could also try speaking to Freelander Specialist - www.freelanderspecialist.com in Methwold, Suffolk. Although Freelanders are their bread and butter, they also know the MG Rover engines well, are very friendly and will give good advice. No connection save as a satisfied customer.

Could the issue be due to a leaking oil cooler as this has been mentioned a few times by other diesel owners ?

Thanks. That has been considered, but as there has also been considerable power loss and now when managibg to start at all its like a WW1 destroyer smoke sacreen I've been told by more than one mechanic its not likely to be that.

Sounds like a combination of oil cooler failure and also possibly high pressure pump failure. I'd strongly recommend a compression test and coolant pressure test before ripping the engine out.

Is there any smell of diesel from the oil in the sump?

Paul
Paul are you getting coolant mixing with the oil in the sump, or are you seeing oil mixing with the coolant in the expansion tank?

You could try Kerridges at Needham Market, they've been looking after my 75 for years
