Default Non start cdti 2003

Hi any ideas car always starts from cold no problem but just recently has been very difficult to start ,on odd occasions when warm/hot, took the car for mot today and did all the checks without fault stopping and starting no problem but when it came to taking off the ramp gave a slight cough when turning over then nothing, the battery by this time was nearly flat so a battery pack was produced and it eventually started without missing a beat, codes were checked and they are as listed PI EOO canbus, PI E25 speed sensor monitoring, PO235 boost pressure sensor fault, these codes maybe nothing to do with the problem but suggestions welcome,TIA.

My first thoughts would be the crank sensor - can cause non starts and cut outs when failing - if she cuts out/fails to start when you turn her over if the Rev counter stays still this points to a goosed crank sensor. They are prone to failing when hot due to the impact of heat on magnetic Hall effect but can if very poorly fail cold.

A failing Cam sensor would only cause non starts .

Swap the cam sensor with a known good one and see if that cures it.

If the car runs fine once started it will be the cam sensor, as the ECM only references it at each start up and then forgets all about it until the next start up.
The crank sensor is constantly used when the engine is running by the ECM to time the injector firing.

Could be easier or cheaper to manufacture that way - sometimes the case with aftermarket parts?
