53 plate V6
Hi guys
I am viewing a 2003 (53) 2.5 V6 Connoisseur on Monday. 59k on clock. I know it will need the cam belt replacing but what else do you recommend I look at. Thanks for your help |

Is the car dry? Any leaks? Sunroof? Wet carpet?
IPK screen OK? Handbrake OK? Look underneath at condition of sills and suspension components. And subframe. Does the air con work? Can you take a laptop/phone and plug in TOAF? Do the VIS motors work? |

Hello Mick,
After starting the engine from cold, during the first minute or two listen for any abnormal rattles from the front of the engine (drive belt area) which could point to idler wheels and tensioners. At the same time, press the windscreen demist button then walk to the radiator grille and listen for the fan running continuously. If you're allowed to undo two 8mm screws fixing the engine soundproofing cover, do so and inspect the 'V' for coolant leaks and/or pink antifreeze residue. This can be seen with a powerful torch without removing the cover if necessary but the view is restricted. Simon

Don't forget the clutch, correct biting point and not heavy, both could indicate a problem.
To get a good indication of if the owner knows the car, check the coolant level when cold. Should be on the max mark which is at the bottom of the exp vessel, any higher could be an ill informed owner or masking a water usage issue

I have done it. Travelled 250 mile round trip and got me a 2001 75 Connoisseur 2.0L V6. Wedgewood blue. Stunning. It is a pre project drive model. Just a crack in rear bumper. All I need to do now is arrange collection. Needs tax and insurance and MOT in August. Full service to organise. I am like a child waiting for Christmas. Oh, Nissan Xtrail for sale.
Can I thank everyone for helping me along. |
