Recently did a little ride out to pick something up, so local travel 30mph roads, mileage 7.7 showing 47mpg

Not bad for an Auto knocking about.

EGR by pass does increase air flow as th gubbins within can restrict. Polishing does help though..

Mine doesn't. I live in the middle of nowhere, hilly, bendy and by the time I've got to town, about 4 miles, the engine hasn't had chance to warm up properly. That has to wait until the return journey.
