Heavy vibration when setting off or under load

The heavy vibration and loud noise comes from the left side of the dash. It only does it when the engine is working up to you have reached the speed you want. Once you let off the acceleration it is fine and drive normally there is no sound or vibration. As soon as you put your foot down to overtake or if going up hill the vibration starts again. It is worse when towing the caravan. I have not got a clue what it could be, have you? It sound to be coming from above the glove box Rover 75 cdt auto 53 reg.

I'd guess at a cv joint if it's doing it under load.

My diesel auto tourer used to make a strange granchy vibratey noise under acceleration and stopped when lifting off the throttle turned out it was the hydro mount, check the engine mounts you never know

Me too. To confirm it, in a large open car park or etc. - Try driving round in full lock circles to the left, then the right, listening for noise from the front hubs. Loud clunking or ticking will confirm and confirm which side is the problem.

All of the above. But also check the lower engine mount. On my diesel a previous owner had put a petrol one on and it had split. Starting up, the engine rocked violently, and when turning the engine off there was a loud clunk from beneath the passenger seat area.
