Projector headlight seperation?
OK,
So i've got some projectors that need the usual lens clean but on inspecting them they have a lot of crud inside the lens including water marks to the lowers which will also need cleaning, I've undone the clips but the lenses appear glued on is this normal? If they are glued and are difficult to seperate I may not bother due to risk of damage.. I would guess they have got like this due to someone in the past losing the rubber backing piece to the bulb holders.. Any advice welcome.. By the way they are not Xenons if that matters.. Cheers Steve

Very low heat in the oven, yes oven, makes the gunk holding them together go soft but very tacky and messy. If you don't fancy the oven method then a hairdryer can be pressed into service. Some people swear they are easier to take apart with them cold but I have always applied some heat to get headlamps apart. Perfectly normal for them to be sealed like this.

yes they are normally bonded with a thick black mutty sealant, best way is to warm them up and slowly prise them apart, I run a blade around them first to help then prise them apart, once they start to separate they are easy its just getting them started....
