Strange alarm problem
Last night around half eleven heard the alarm on my CDT, knew it was my car as it had happened three nights previously at around the same time.
It took me around twenty seconds to put on some clothes and shoes but before I had gotten to the car the alarm had stopped though the red led on the IPK was flashing rapidly. Both times, unlocking the doors (checking windows and closing the centre vents) then relocking using the fob worked as it should and the alarm remained silent through the night. Not getting the door/bonnet/boot open light lit and will clean and spray contacts today in the hope this works. Any other ideas? As ever all advice and suggestions welcome. |

I'm guessing that you have identified the problem here. Check that all the switches are operating and have a feed.

Do you have an interior movement alarm ? I had an MG ZR that had one and each morning at about 10.00 , as the sun came over the roof and warmed the interior air , the alarm went off .
I disconnected the sensor and that solved the problem . Do you have anything odd that happens each night at that time ( big spiders have been known to set them off ! ), or could it be your car cooling down inside

Thanks for the replies,
Sorry for any confusion... Meant NOT GETTING OPEN DOOR/BOOT/BONNET LIGHT LIT WHEN ALL ARE CLOSED OR THE ALARM HAS GONE OFF. Not sure if I have interior movement detection on the alarm, think its only air pressure sensors in front centre light? Have cleaned bonnet switch and checked doors and boot switch, going to close vents and will see if it goes off again. Doubt local cats or foxes could cause it? |

Didi you check your battery ?
my CDTI did that once with a low level battery. (forgot lights on) I did a full charge and no more problems . |

My ZT has fortunately been free of electrical gremlins, but the one time I had spurious alarm triggering was down to a bonnet switch. It was full of water after one of our summers...

Case closed
Just gone off again, got to the car before the alarm stopped and turned the alarm off with the fob.
As I was about to unlock the doors with the fob seen a moth flying inside the window. Opened the door and moth flew out. Guess I do have motion detection on the alarm system. |
