London Emissions Zone 2021
Hi folks. Anyone else in London pondering what to do with their lovely well maintained Rover 75 or ZT after October 2021? Within the North Circular (and South Circular) it will be £12.50 a day to use your jam-jar. That is over £4.5k a year if you use it every day. I use it nearly every day. Mine's a CDi Con SE Tourer and it seems there is no LPG coversion or retrofit available to make it Euro 6 compliant.
Flog it and buy a new Skoda Superb Tourer? I can't afford a BMW 3 Series which seems to be the only thing with anything like a wood/chrome/leather interior and a proper round clock. ? |

TBH I wouldn't get rid of my car for anyone - especially that useless b@5t@rd of a mayor you're stuck with. In any event, buying a new car means it would takes years before you started saving any money.

So is there no difference in the charge between petrol and diesel? Un-filtered diesel exhaust at that! Not that it will affect me in my CDT - I haven't driven in London for years.

As the OP says, the zone is being extended in London to the north and south circular roads. How long before other cities follow suit? Will London further extend to the M25 (rhetorical question)? Simon

Its a blue coller (working class) tax , the rich/well off have a choice of using their petrol/diesel car or buying the latest eco-friendly alternative . They have the cash to do both if they want, those that cant afford that will have a choice of walking or catching a bus thats if they can pay the increased fares . How long will it be before that sort of thinking spreads from London to the rest of the UK ? Its nothing more than a witch hunt and the motorist is being blamed for contributing to the bull$hit lie that is global warming , the biggest conspiracy that governments are lining their pockets with.

Birmingham is considering introducing a daily charge for non-Euro 4 petrol engine cars.
My 02 V6 would attract the charge, but when I typed examples of 06 plate cars on sale into the Euro4 checker website they came up as being compliant. Now I am aware that since Jan 2006 all cars sold in the UK have had to be Euro 4 compliant, but why are 05 and previous V6s not Euro4 and 06 V6s compliant? Did Rover make a tweak to the engine in January 2006? I have seen cars of other makes that flag up as Euro4 compliant yet are from 2002 or 2003 which is pretty annoying! |
