Toaf Cable
Hi Guys, I have miss placed my ODB cable I used with Toaf. I ordered a replacement and have joined pin 7 and 8 but It is still not working. I get a access violation error when trying to use it.
I need to reset the LCM as I had enabled the DRL on her. I had disabled them but, I was going to restore the LCM from a backup that I had taken before . AS she has her NCT (MOT) at the end of the month. Which one would you guys recommend or I may just get some wiring done while I am waiting to get the front lights to work, if I don't get a cable. This is the cable I got. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OBD2-II-O...72.m2749.l2649 Thanks Guys

I thought I could help as I bought one last year and it works well on my 04 2.5 V6. Unfortunately the Ebay link can't be found now, the description was
USB Cable KKL VAG-COM 409.1 OBD2 II OBD Diagnostic Scanner VCDS VW/Audi/Seat A++ Item price £6.98 Quantity 1 Item number 263852733774 Looks like you have the right cable to me? I was lucky to be able to test the cable on our 05 Polo before soldering for the Rover! John Last edited by Jaxxx; 1st February 2021 at 20:20.. Reason: Update |

Your blue, black lead looks suspiciously like the one Hogweed warned of in another thread. He spent hours thinking there was something wrong with the programme or computer (it is after all Windows) hopefully he'll notice this and comment.
Regards Sorry can't help with a link as I use a RS232 lead |

Yeah... sadly I fear you can't even tell whether a given lead will work or not till you try it, as people here have bought seemingly identical ones to my blue (working) one, but find they don't work. Whether this is a QC problem, or if there's some tiny firmware change wich is randomly scattered around all variants of the lead, I don't know. Of course, if you have an older laptop, it may have a serial port, and you may find an RS232 cable works. Or maybe it's nothing to do with that, and Vitesse just got lucky too Trial and error, sorry... but if you remember to bridge the correct 2 pins, and it doesn't work properly, I think trying a different cable is your only option Fortunately they're very cheap

Best results I've had are with cable that uses this chipset: CH341.

Thanks for that. I opened both the cables I have, and they do indeed have different boards... unfortunately, the chips have either no markings, or two faint to photograph - sadly, the latter didn't say anything like CH341. Anyway, here they are if it helps anybody - the blue one is the one which works.
