Default Roof lining repair

Following some recent discussion on here , I decided to give it a go and bought this roof lining repair kit ;
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Beauneo-Lin...K%2CB07ZLZ6SBM
only £8.29 and wasn't expecting much , but I'm well pleased
See the pic .........

I put mine up at 8" centres , in a grid 5 wide by 6 long . I set up the lines with masking tape then pushed in the coloured marker pins where the lines crossed , then removed the tape . I then removed the pins one at a time as I put the screw and collar in ; the buttons snap onto the collars easily .
I was surprised how flimsy the backing board is (is it cardboard ? ) so the pins and then the screws go in very easily . You can only gently nip up the screws but it seems to be enough to produce a secure finish
Could be worth putting in a test button at the back of the roof , behind the interior light , to get the feel of the process and test the look . If you do remove them they will leave a screwhole in the fabric !

The screws are 15mm long . The collars take up several mm of that so probably 12mm to go through the roof liner , which as I said is very soft so don't overtighten ! The buttons measure 20 mm dia , but don't look big when in place .
The kit comes with 60 units , and I used 30 to do the whole roof .

A word of caution if anyone buys this kit
Don't use the tape measure that comes with it . Apparently in China an inch is 32mm long !!!!!

This is tempting, as I've been quoted £250 to recover mine, and that's with me taking it out, getting it to the upholsterer, collecting it and refitting it.

Just need to find beige ones... edit: found them https://www.amazon.co.uk/DEDC-Headli.../dp/B07ZCVJX1H

It's the same principle as this that I've done many times on Montego's, Maestros, MGZS's and MGF Hardtop , It's not difficult https://maestro.org.uk/forums/forum/...g-on-a-montego
