Mystery Item.
CDTI.
Whilst fitting some brass leak-off connectors yesterday, I found a white plastic/rubber cap lurking between two of the injectors. I don't know if it was originally part of the car, or whether it's just a random item that has found its way in there? Does anybody recognise it? Thanks. |

Yes, I was in there a couple of days ago changing the PCV filter and cleaning the MAF sensor, being ultra careful not to break any connectors. I then saw your ‘how-to’ on changing to brass connectors and thought it would be well worth doing.

Have you had an injector replaced at any time? That looks like a protective cap to prevent contamination getting into pipe fittings of new parts and so discarded when a part is fitted. |

Although it has a full set of stamps in the book, there is no other supporting paperwork. |

After a second look at the photos, in the one with the injectors in, the injector on the right looks to be new compared with the one on the left. Nice clean plastics and the metal work on the right injector is nice and shiny compared to the left. So it looks like you were right I wonder if there are signs of ' spanner work ' on the pipe nut.
