Default Halfway there

Hi guys, decided to have a go fixing the rad fan today, most of the dismantle went well except the wheel arch screw and those below it, one each underside, ground them off, will replace with new. Decided to take the cross bar and lights off as one assembly, removed the top 2 radiator mounts coz the assembly wouldn't come off otherwise. Removed the shroud fixings on the RHS only and removed the fan without having to cut the shroud, 2.5 hours 🤗 Straightening the tangs on the motor was tricky, used large pincers. Back plate off, brushes plate off, all fairly clean but earth brush gone AWOL, so mystery solved, 1 hour. Ordered 1 brush from ECP, gonna put that on the earth then swap the shortest and longest brushes and hope that's it. Hope there's nothing else wrong with electrics (not gonna be doing many miles so cheapest fix possible) I'm so excited waiting for post. Thanks to all you guys, Arctic, SD1too, Hengist. Next job, fix the leaks into the rear stowage areas (Tourer) cheers guys 🤗

My motor looked similar, with the groove in the armature, tho not as deep, I guess the spring would have caused that ! Put a new brush in anyway and the fan turns on demist, albeit with a bit of encouragement 🤔😆 hoping things will improve after a bit of use. As I've said, will not be doing many miles so hard to justify £200 for new fan but if this fails, will have to. 😟

Just out of interest, how's the fan going after (presumably) being hammered during this heat? Mine is tickety-boo.

Dougie.
