Default Tv licence over 75

My parents well into their 90s will now need a tv licence. They don’t have a clue about such things. Does anyone know how the new system of payments will work? Will they be written to, explaining how to pay? My mother in law, a similar age, says she won’t do anything until a letter arrives. Is anyone on top of this?

You could sort it out for them here

https://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/cs/pay...ence/index.app

There are many spoof or scam websites purporting to be from TV Licensing, however the above is a genuine link.

Or as an alternative

By post
You can post a cheque made payable to ‘TV Licensing’ for £150. Please write your name, address, postcode and TV Licence or reference number (if available) on the back and send it to:

TV Licensing

Hope this is helpful

To my mind it’s shameful. It’s happened and we have to deal with it. For me, a society should be judged on how it treats the old and the young.

Not sure why the expenses fiddlers are allowing this to happen given that when I first heard of it some fiddlers were saying that they had allowed for the cost in the last settlement they made with the BBC. If so then the BBC appear to be trousering the settlement money and charging again with not a squeak now from the expenses fiddlers. Something is not right.

Frankly, to me the BBC is well past its use-by date. It is a self-serving dinosaur and it is clear that it will not voluntarily give up the teat of public funding while its own mentality prevails amongst a sufficient number of expenses fiddlers.

By coincidence just today got in touch with the BBC, as i am now 75,but as my wife is on Pension Credits, i have been told we are entitled to apply for free licence. They don't make it easy, had to dial a 0300 number, then wife was on phone for 30 mins including 20 min on hold, just to be told they will send us an application form.

Well I will wait until my mum gets a letter saying she needs to pay, then sort it out.
