Thanks for your responses, I've replaced the Idle valve and that hasn't really done anything, the one on there seemed in good condition anyway, I did give it a sniff and it has a rather potent smell of petrol, I'm not sure if that's normal or not. My only guess is that it's inlet manifold related, I have noticed that the car does have a very slow coolant loss which was mentioned when I bought it.

I can only mirror what has been said above, my 1.8T has an identical idle to the video you posted up and it has always been the same, I was told that it was just a feature of the turbos that they all did it. The idle has never been a problem to me however as always there have been many other issues to keep my attention but that's why I love her

Agreed and to add..... unlike other cars with a fluctuating idle it doesn't cause lumpyness.The car itself still idles very smoothly.
