Cool Looks like Banana is back on the long.................

....................................... trips for breakfast meets.

Banana done well today on a round trip of 205 miles to an informal breakfast meet up in Congresbury near Bristol. Heavy rain, then sunshine and back to rain with strong winds. Only a small meet up but there was selection of different cars. Including a stunning Vauxhall Royale Coupe, nice Aston Martin, Triumph GT6, LR TD5, Rover 75, Rover 25, MG ZTT*, MK1 Golf, Toyota and a couple of others.

And Banana won a trophy for the furthest travelled. Zed the Ted came along for his breakfast. The food is cooked to order and was very tasty.

The ZTT* is the ex-Ian G car

Love that Vauxhall Royale especially in a Coupe. I remember driving one in the 80s and apart from the shockingly bad fuel consumption I remember how smoooth it was.

Bob, that GT6 brings back memories.

I hankered after one, but never did follow it through.

However, I did have an early Spitfire 4, with the low front bumper. Bought a fastback hardtop for it, Ashley or Lenham, can't remember.

Within days of going to the factory for it to be fitted, a xxxxxx Humber Hawk rammed into me at a set of lights.

Little tiny boot flap (lid) never shut properly afterwards, but my towing bracket got some sort of revenge.

No, he wasn't insured.

See you soon

Mike

My father lent me his Opel Monza for my wife and I to take a holiday. Lovely smooth machine and quick too. Unfortunately it broke down in Cornwall Since the car was my responsibility, I had it 'fixed' at a local recommended garage. Could hardly bill my dad for a free holiday car. Needed a new ecm I was told. The whole exercise would have been cheaper to hire a car
At least she was working properly when I handed her back. My father called a few weeks later to say the car had broken down and ' had it been Ok with myself? I confessed our story, and we were both puzzled when he said he'd been told it needed a new ecm. Well a year and a third ecm later, he had the car really looked at. Short version, part of the loom going through the steering column was so tight some cables had chaffed on the sharp edges at the end of the roughly finished tube and were intermittently shorting out. I borrowed the car a few times after that was fixed and it always impressed me. Congrats on a good run. Edging closer to that moon badge Bob.
