Are you trying to use IE 7.0 some users have reported serious problems with this software. Not just related to this site. Others have reported no issues at all. Safest is to use Firefox or IE 6.0

Default IE7 Woes

Some people actually like IE7. Very pretty, with lots of new buttons and baffling extra functions to play with. I'm sure fourteen year olds love it.....

However, I have found it to be a truly buggy effort, which, in the interests of 'security', not only inexplicably blocks access to many sites, but also slows browsing to a crawl. Despite adjusting the myriad of settings, IE7 would not allow me in here from the .org site, so I uninstalled it. What's more, this aberration is currently trying to inveigle its way onto people's computers via the Automatic Updates, so watch out!

I use IE7 and have met very few problems, including this forum. now, the main site is a different matter, but for that I use firefox, nothing to get excited about. Thing is, MS in all thier wisdom are moving on and there will always be teething problems, as there were with 3.11 and 95. For me its just another decade later, same problems.
deja vu methinks.................... I really hope this does not turn into another windows vs linux or firefox vs opera type discussion, as there are plenty of other places out there for that

I understand a bit but not as much as I would like to. I have tried in the past to get the latest things up and running sometimes they worked sometimes they didn't. Nowadays I work by two rules and thats if its not broke don't try to fix it and if I am not sure what something is I don't need it

Works for me

I had lot of issues with IE7 but it seems to have settled down now and I prefer it to IE6.

Worth stating IE7 has problems navigating the menus on the club web site but should not present any problems accessing the forum if you have it bookmarked directly.

Apart from the fact MS for whatever reason have produced a browser with built in backwards compatabiliy issues, visually it ain't a bad effort if you consider they clearly see Firefox as the one they need to beat.

PS I moved this to the PC forum

I'm probably being too hard on Microsoft, and I will try IE7 again in a few months time, when the all bugs have been ironed out.

I remember the upgrade from Windows 3.1 to Windows 95 many moons ago. We all thought that 95 was an aberration, as it slowed our pathetic 386/486 machines to a crawl and it could not easily install the proliferation of non pnp hardware on the market at that time! Even those lucky enough to own a cutting edge Pentium 75 (wow...) found it hard going.

Then there was Windows 95 (2), 98 (1&2), Millennium, XP1,2 etc. Oh the joy....I've had them all, and they were all buggy in their first incarnation, so let us keep our fingers crossed!

All System developers use the public for their final Beta testing. It's par for the course. In most cases they could not produce an entirely finished artcle because of the proliferation of different hardware configurations they will run on.
The real test of a good software developer is how quickly they address and resolve any bugs in their software. Not how many bugs it is delivered with.
Security issues I have a much harder time forgiving, that to my mind smacks of incompetence.
