Is it for Christmas Mike? If it is then this is no good but I can never fault Novatech http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/

My last three have come from there and have had no problems at all apart from user problems.

Can't praise the quality and price enough. No Virii, no spyware, no trojans, no hassle. No lack of software or resources.

If you want Windows as well, download the free Bootcamp software, Load XP Pro including SP2 and you will have the best of one world and the worst of the other.

We shall yet again wait and see what these people come up with. The last instance of OSX being hackable relied on the hackers being given root access before they could commence. That was about a serious as it got.
Apple address any security issues on a very regular basis and in general they are addressed well before the so called experts discover them.

As I tell all my clients, there are no virii or security issues at this time, but do not be complacent, some pathetic sensation seeker is bound to do it sometime.

The Mac community polices itself, unlike the Windows community which attempts to destroy itself.

The latest update for OSX 10.4.8 was issued today.

The Mac community is a minority. Hence less of a target, the more peeps use it the more vulnerable it will get to attack. A small minority (pro-rata) in the Windows community cause damage.....a problem it is indeed. Hence the move towards Linux....you get better security AND all those lovely computer games.....

I agree, to a certain extent, like the 75 and ZT club looking after itself and the members looking out for each other, rather than attempting to nay say the cars and find ways of destroying them. Funny that.
Although why writers of virii, keyloggers, trojans etc have not bothered is because they are very likely to get laughed out of the hacking community for wasting their energies on a bunch of tree hugging, hippy, film making type users, when there are countries and banking systems and Cod knows what else to damage. No contest.

Beware, your Linux and Unix boxes need protection. BSD is very vulnerable, whereas the BSD subsystem on OSX is of a very different flavour, not in any way invulnerable, just a lot more difficult.

Edit:- BTW the small minority you refer to in the Windows community amount to many hundreds of thousands. Many of them being very serious criminals.

there is very little difference in top end pc's and macs these days, as they both use Intel dual cores, SATA hard drives and Nvidea graphics cards, and linux? nah... it wont run any of my video or music production software.
